Following a career in music and theatre, Iain Thompson formed NDE Films in 2004. That was the beginning of a journey that has taken him all over the world and through which he has built a sound reputation as a filmmaker with specialisms in story-telling, time-lapse and aerial filming and photography.
The Storyboard so far…
Having honed his craft it was clear to Iain that by combining key aspects of storytelling within client productions meant it would be more memorable and impactful in a way that could change audience attitudes and behaviours.
Following a series of successful and international award-winning film production projects co-produced with writer and social entrepreneur John Gilbert; Iain and John joined forces.
In 2019, the company rebranded as Storyboard Media, moved to brand new premises and invested in enhanced capabilities in podcasting, social impact documentary and social media storytelling.
With over 20 years’ experience of award-winning media and film production our story continues. Meeting challenges head on we live and work by our values of meaning, excellence, impact and a sense of fun.

Iain Thompson
Production Director
International filmmaker with 15+ years’ experience and bags of qualifications.
His filming has taken him to places such as: Munich, San Francisco, Los Angeles, St Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, Atlanta, Raleigh, Amsterdam, Meiningen, London, Edinburgh, New York, Malaga, Tenerife, Santorini, Marseille and Goole.
With more than a few strings to his bow, Iain is skilled as a licensed aerial photography (drone) pilot, photographer, musician, actor, comedian and presenter.
Alongside his role at Storyboard Media, Iain is the Creative Coordinator at Freedom Road Creative Arts CIC.
John Gilbert
Scriptwriter & Producer
Scriptwriter and social entrepreneur with 18+ years’ experience and heaps of qualifications.
John’s dedication to media and live event creation has given him opportunity to write, produce and direct innovative conferences, concerts and comedy festivals whilst his short film productions have enabled local change, national awards and international audiences.
Alongside his role at Storyboard Media, John is the Managing Director of social marketing agency, eskimosoup.
Chris Hopkins
Chris Hopkin has been making films for ten years. He has worked on multiple award-winning feature and short films.
A skilled animator, editor and music creator, Chris graduated from Hull School of Art and Design.
He is a licensed drone pilot as well as a founding member of Humber Film, which aims to bring accessible film making roles to the region.
